Banners

Here are some banners I designed and created in Adobe Photoshop. I used the technique of merging two portfolio together and altering their properties to create a dynamic effect and a whole picture which relates to its title.

Life brief

For this project I was to produce photos on life in general at public areas such as bus stops, train stations, cinemas etc. With the photos, I was to use photo manipulation and experiement using various techniques. Such as adding typography, altering the colour of the image to create connotations related to a certain topic. Below are the final outcomes.

Final Major Project

I created a large image of silhouettes and image icons based on the relationship between humans and their mobile phones for my final major project. I focused on the side where users love and adore their mobile phones as if they were pets. Within the speech bubbles are the image icons of what users regularly use their mobile phones for, such as communication.
I had experimented with different illustration techniques and combined photography with illustration in the final design. Along the project I also draw many pictures realted to people on the phone and based a character on a mobile phone strap. However I did not continue along this path.
If I were to do the project again I would focus on the negative side a mobile phone causes for humans.

Fire Extinguisher

Our first assignment for the first semester was to create an entity from a real life object using techniques we learnt during lectures and tutorials. I chose to model a fire extinguisher as this was easily found within the university to use as reference. The shape and form of the item is also simple and not of a complex nature.
The entity was modelled in 3D Studio Max using a variety of techniques and methods such as spline modelling, lofting and many more. I thoroughly enjoyed this project as it allowed me to experiment with the materials editor and create realistic materials. I was also able to create materials using image bitmaps and altering their axis values to create a different effect.

Glass and Bottle

This bottle and glass were also modelled in 3D Studio Max. The glass tumbler was done by creating a hexagon and extruded some of its polygons. A glass type texture was applied to the model. I had used spline modelling plus a series of methods (chamfer, extrude, meshSmooth) to model the glass bottle and cap. I then experimented in the materials editor to make a series of materials; creating a realistic model.

Wooden Boat

To learn how to create materials and wrap them around a model, we modelled a boat using simple shapes and lofting techniques. We then created a wood texture using an image of wood planks and applied it to the boat model using the UVW map. After I included a plane with an image of water to create the effect that the boat was floating in the ocean.

Multimedia

Strawberry Ice E-Mail Client

In pairs of two we created an e-mail client (non-secure) using AJAX, DOM, SQL, XHTML and Javascript. there are still a couple of errors with the script. Nevertheless it functions as an e-mail client which sends messages to other users stored in a database.

Flash Portfolio

This was a multimedia application I created from scratch in CS3 Flash. It uses Actionscript 2.0 as I was still new to this program then. It follows a basic navigation layout of a website and holds personal information on myself.

A Day in the Life of a Piece of Technology

This is a blog I created for my Introduction to New Media module. We were to write a blog with 5 posts on a topic related to technology. I chose to base mine through the eyes of a piece of technology because I thought it would be an interesting read. It also meant that I was able to type in my leisure and how I want the personality of the object to be (personification).
